OSHA releases Covid 19 vaccination rules

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) released its rules requiring COVID-19 vaccinations for companies that employ 100 or more employees. The rules provide, in summary:

  • By January 4, 2022, companies must ensure that their workers are fully vaccinated or that they test negative for COVID-19 at least once a week.

  • Workers must be given paid time off to get the vaccine and recover from any side effects.

  • Employers do not have to pay for testing, and can require the employee to pay for it.

  • Unvaccinated people must wear masks in the workplace and when occupying a vehicle with another person for work purposes.

  • Employers who violate the rule can face fines up to $13,653 per violation and as much as ten times that for willful or repeated violations.
